LJ weirdness
I managed to get my lovely wife to find a headshot of me in the terabytes worth of digital pictures we have of our family ... and I uploaded it to my Kettering page:

http://www.kettering.edu/~jhuggins/pics/jim.JPG

So, I thought I'd try to be cool and turn this into a LJ userpic. Why then, when I upload the picture and get dumped into the editor, all I get is a picture of a fern?

Current Mood: puzzled

Good question... I've never had much luck with the LJ icon editor, so I normally just resize things using a program like IrfanView.

And here you go, all resized and happy for LJ:

Thanks.

Puzzle #2: wondering why when I click the link above in LJ, I get a "access forbidden" message, even though I know the stupid file is obviously there ...

Hmm, it wasn't doing that a second ago. *scratches head* Of course, when it was first posted, I didn't even see the link till I went to your page instead of my friends page. :-/ Stranger and stranger, when I go to your Kettering homepage and click on your photo (ie, the same exact link), it's fine and comes up.

Someone broke the internet. ;)

I'm starting to suspect that it's something at Kettering's end ... I tried a similar experiment on-campus today and it failed the same way. I think our web-server may not allow you to load a picture file directly that isn't part of a webpage. (Yeah, that's weird.)
