Self-affirming essay boosts coeds' physics skills

Studies like this are utterly fascinating. Doing something completely unrelated to the subject matter of a physics course has the effect of boosting the grades of women taking that physics course.

I'm not sure how one translates this into other coursework ... how, for example, do I use this to encourage the women in my CS2 courses to persevere in the discipline? I'm not sure. But it makes me think ...
