Some of you followed the story (or read my post
) about the Amazon Kindle-1984
debacle. (Brief summary: Amazon didn't have the rights to sell the digital copy of 1984 they were selling, so, without telling anyone, they retracted the copies from user Kindles and refunded the purchase price. Amazon subsequently apologized, rather dramatically.)
Amazon is now doing more than apologizing ... according to postings on Amazon
, they are now offering affected users either a free licensed copy of 1984
, or $30, at the user's discretion. That's a nice gesture.
