While this is certainly well-done and humorous ... there's actually some profound truth in this.

Most folks don't realize it, but the written word is a terribly profound technology. It's so ubiquitous in Western culture that we don't realize how incredibly useful it is ... unless you spend time in a culture where the written word is not nearly as pervasive. I can easily imagine something like this almost happening a thousand years ago...

It's actually really interesting from the standpoint of someone who has worked IT. There are a lot of times when the problem seems this simple, and we can't understand how a person could possibly have this much trouble with it, but it really does happen that way with most newer technologies. I'm sure in a century, people will view computers as being so simplistic that nobody could possibly not understand how to use them.
