Mirror, mirror, on the wall, why can't I take a good picture?
A new "official" photo of me just appeared on the Kettering website:

As you've noticed, I have a rather hideous posed smile.  Sigh.

Seriously, though ... what do y'all think of the picture?  I'm the worst person in the world to judge my own pictures ... mainly, 'cuz I still see myself as I was in college, and that was 20 years ago.  (Ugh.  I'm getting old.)

I thought it was a good picture of you.

I tend to look like I'm posing for a mug shot when I take photos.

However, i did have an annoying habit at UVA in the 'Faculty and Staff' directory of being the guy with the goofy expression and squiny eyes. Clint Eastwood. Yes. Only it came out looking like Kevin Smith with rather nasty constipation.

That's not too bad.

I hate having my picture taken, as is evident in my driver's license and passport photos. I look like him high in the passport one; no I will not post what it looks like!

Don't feel bad. I hate my own portrait pictures. I tell people I have a great face for radio.

We're all getting old and are the worst judges of our own pics

I think that you look very scholarly yet friendly. A wonderful pic for the Kettering Website.

What cracks me up are the people who had that great shot of them when they were in their mid 30's...and continue to use it for the next 60 years!

(Truth is that I would like to take a basic class in mathematics from you if I had the time or money right now -- even if I had taken that class 30 years ago).

apology...for last post

I apologize for my gushing review of your pic in my last post. I was amazed and ascared that you actually look like that from the front!

Normally when you and I are physically co-located, all I see is your backside. (Try explaining that to your co-workers and students!!!!)

(And yes, I'm from the corn-belt so I can use the word "ascared" -- so there, too, and also)!
