I finally found what that extra wall-wort was for.

On my old computer, which has finally been exiled to the basement, I had bought a small external USB hub --- not much wider than a USB connector, in fact.  I attached it to the side of the system unit with the sticky tape that came with it ... which meant, of course, that it kept falling off.  And, of course, the hub was powered.

So, during some cleanup operation, the hub fell down a crack, the wall wort got unplugged from it ... and the rest is (trivial) history.

I hate to admit this ... but it's a relief to know what it was.  I hate unanswered questions like that ...

I was *just* thinking about that power supply at work yesterday. Glad you were able to figure out what it was.

Obviously, you weren't using the hub for anything noticeable.

Curious about gfp051u-0510

Ok, guess I am not the only one on the planet trying to match ac adapters to gadgets or in my case the other way around. I have a GE USB 2.0 HUB HO97878, which I used without the power supply. I finally need the extra power so I dug into my closet looking for the power supply found several (pack rat that I am), including is one with the model number gfp051u-0510, but could not be sure this was the one for the hub. Tried contacting GE but was not successful in getting any info.

Googled the number and your journal came up. At this point more curious than having any real need for the hub, I have others, but is this the hub the power supply was used with?

Yeah, that's it. I can't find the part number on mine, but it's definitely a GE USB 2.0 hub.

Hey, thanks, I was googling the adapter and hit this site, too. Sweet, another thing I can get rid of! =)
