Random thoughts - Jim Huggins
- JFLAP is really cool. I think I'm going to try using it next term.
- Tried to change my default LJ layout yesterday. Half the cool ones choked on the meme graphics. Sigh. Guess I'll stay boring for now.
...Where the deuce was this a year ago?!
And by the by, basic LJ layouts rock. It's just window dressing, Dr. Huggins... remember that.
- Well, I hadn't heard about it last year. We learn by doing. (Actually, they just came out with a companion textbook for JFLAP.)
There's a long history of tools for formal languages, but many of them tend to be really painful to use. This one seems to be both pretty simple to use and pretty comprehensive. (It may be the existence of the whole Java framework behind the scenes that helps.)
- The only thing I don't like about the classic LJ layouts is on my Friends page, where the LJ icons and titles appear centered rather than top aligned. Oh, and there's also not a clean delimiter between consecutive entries, which gets a little confusing. Just me nitpicking ... I'm sure in my free time (ha ha), I'll find a way to tweak it ...
Free time... bah. I mock it and it's empty promises.
