For those who might be interested:

The Kettering Outstanding Teaching Awards for 2007 were announced today.  Recipients: Michael Callahan, Massoud Tavakoli, Ali Zand.

don't they normally announce this at convocation?

eh well. I've had one of them for a class; I signed up for another class mostly because he was teaching it.

1) We don't have second-week convocations anymore. Under Dr. John, the sessions became more of a "stump-the-president" session, and Dr. Liberty didn't like that. Instead, we're actually doing a real "convocation" during orientation weekend (almost like commencement, except up front).

2) It used to be that the teaching awards were announced officially at commencement ... but that was the only thing at commencement that wasn't focused on the students. Dr. Liberty moved that to an on-campus event when he got here.

sounds like a better plan all around. I admit, I only went to convocation twice or so.
