Yes, it's meme time again ... courtesy of dwh:

Leave a comment and I will:

a) tell you why I friended you,
b) associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, etc.,
c) tell you something I like about you,
d) tell you a memory I have of you,
e) ask something I've always wanted to know about you,
f) tell you my favorite user pic of yours,
g) in return, you must post this in your LJ - or not (no pressure).

a) 'cuz I was new to LJ, and following a couple of current students, and somehow randomly managed to find you. Of course, I was your advisor at Kettering, and we were friends there, too ...

b) A stuffed penguin comes to mind.

c) Your ... oh, what word do I pick? For lack of a better word ... your spunk. You have an excitement about life, in its good and bad moments, that is infectious. I like being around people with spunk, because I feed off of it and become spunky myself.

Spunk is a weird work. Spunk. Spunky spunk. Narf.

d) Honestly, the first thing that comes to mind? Lecturing in discrete math about the well-ordering principle (every subset of the integers has a smallest element), thinking on my feet about an example, saying "in every group of people, someone is the shortest", then looking over at you in the front row and seeing you impishly put your head down in mock protest. (Honest, it wasn't intended as a short joke ... :))

e) How'd you & Lance meet up, anyhow?

f) The lonely one. Not that I associate that with you, but I think that's a particularly poignant portrait. It's a powerful image. (And she kinda looks like you, or at least the memory I have of you, which isn't the same thing ...)

d) I know it wasn't a short joke. :) If you'd said that someone is the TALLEST, Brian probably would have protested...

e) interesting story, that...it was my first semester at Kettering, around fourth weekend or so, and I hadn't yet made it to a CIA meeting. Their progressive dinner was that weekend, and I couldn't go (I had a chem test that was going to eat me ALIVE on Monday) but I wanted to at least go to where they were gathering and meet a few of them. And there was a blond lady wandering through the dorms BUGGING ME INCESSANTLY to go, so to shut her up, I went. Didn't see her there, but Lance marched right up to me and introduced himself. Didn't see her again till Lance showed me a picture of his sister he carried in his wallet.

That's the truth.

f) I get that a LOT, that I look like her. It's part of why I chose that icon.

d) See, I couldn't do the tall joke, because the well-ordered principle only deals with minimum elements, not maximum elements. (I suppose I could always recast the problem as "distance from the ceiling", but that gets really convoluted ...)

yes, that occurred to me AFTER I'd said something silly. Though the "distance from the ceiling" bit made me laugh...
